Custom House advertising

Custom House is three floors of English and French contemporary cuisine set in the historic seventeenth century quayside Customs House. Their menu consists of locally sourced seafood and meat dishes in either their ‘a la carte’ restaurant or in the less formal cafe bar.

The brief

Custom House wanted to revitalise their offer by extending it to a venue for local businesses to have meetings and for wedding receptions.

To accomplish this, it needed to rejuvenate its branding to stand proud of its competition in an increasingly competitive market. It couldn’t be just another restaurant; it needed to stand on its own and appeal to a wide range of audiences, from holiday makers to local ‘foodies’.

What we did

We redeveloped the branding using contemporary colouring and the addition of a new graphic texture and ‘stamp device’. The bigger and more important change was to amend the focus to be more around the food: large mouth-watering images of the dishes that make Custom House the restaurant it is.

The advertising we created used these full page images with the small but distinct ‘stamp lift off’s’ utilising simple but immediate headlines.

COVID Update (Oct 2021)

We’re out of lockdown now, and we’re most definitely still working! Hopefully we are seeing an end to the worst of this. We’re working partly at our Colchester based office again now, we can (as we’ve been doing) deliver all the work we usually do.

Obviously if you have any branding related projects we'd love to chat (over Zoom). In the meantime stay safe.
